CO Testing

Carbon Monoxide Testing

Is your heater leaking? Accel Air can check for you.

Energy Safe Victoria recommends that gas appliances should be serviced and tested for carbon monoxide every two years. To be on the safe side, once a year is better.

Remember it’s impossible to detect if your heater is leaking carbon monoxide, since it has no smell or sound. However, spillage can cause serious illness and even death.

One of Accel Air’s qualified gas fitters will perform a series of checks to test if your heater is safe. They use a carbon monoxide tester, a compact handheld device that reads carbon monoxide in points per million (ppm) in the air coming from your heater.

If you’re renting, you should be aware that the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 makes it your landlord’s responsibility to service and maintain any gas appliances in the building. Simply ask your landlord about servicing and the date of the most recent CO test.

Accel Air carries out the following actions:

Establishing baseline conditions
Testing for a negative pressure environment
Testing for CO spillage
Assessing CO test outcomes
Capping off if required
